I recently purchased a new laptop from Ben for my HR consulting business and was impressed with both the product and the service that he provided. He installed the laptop, ensured that all of my files were moved over to the new device and connected it up to my office hardware (screens and printer). He also upgraded my anti-virus software with a better but much cheaper product. I wouldn't hesitate in recommending Ben and BL IT Solutions.

I engaged with BL IT Solutions Ltd based on the strength of their google reviews, however I cannot recommend this business based on my experience.

I asked for a faulty Buffalo external hard drive be looked at with the possibility of trying to recover the data. I dropped the drive off in a labelled bag at the Maidstone office and over a period of three weeks made several phone calls to ascertain whether it had been looked at as it had important work files I needed access to.

I was given a myriad of reasons why it had not been looked at–staffing issues, holidays and sickness–but was informed that it was being looked at or was due to be looked at imminently. After waiting for over four weeks for work to start, I drove over to the office to collect my hard drive to take it elsewhere to be looked at.

After arriving and watching a fruitless search of the office, I was informed the hard drive was no longer on the premises and may have been removed to be worked on from another address. I was told I would be contacted about its whereabouts and when it would be returned to me. I was naturally very concerned that my data had been lost and what the implications of this meant to the security of my data if it was recoverable.

After emailing the following week to ask for an update and not receiving any communication, I felt my only option was to write a breach of contract letter in order to gain a response. My letter was acknowledged by Ben, via email, who informed me that my drive was faulty, the data was unrecoverable and I could have the drive back minus the outer case as it had been broken open and discarded.

I was offered the opportunity to return to the office to retrieve my drive or have it sent via special delivery. I chose to drive over to collect it and on arriving I was handed a Toshiba drive, minus the outer case. I asked for the drive to be plugged into a PC so I could check the internal serial code matched the one I had on record.

Whilst waiting in the office, I noticed a Buffalo hard drive that looked identical to mine, sat unlabelled on an empty desk. On checking the exterior serial number, I was shocked to find that this was in fact my hard drive that had been dropped off eight weeks prior. No work had been carried out on my drive and the outer case was intact and showed no sign it had been opened.

The most distressing part of the whole saga was that I was handed a completely different drive with the intent to fob me off with a drive that was clearly not mine. My experience with BL IT Solutions Ltd has not only cost me financially by taking time away from my business, it has also cost me undue stress and worry and has taken a toll on my mental health.

I hope that this review serves as an important reminder that timely and effective communication with customers is imperative at all times, no matter what adversities you may face running a business.

Ben from BL IT Solutions provided me with a refurbed tablet and a software upgrade to my existing unit. Reasonably priced and knowledgeable. Booked a home visit and the appointment was met timely. Would recommend/ use in future.

Contacted Ben when my Laptop stopped charging. It took them longer than agreed to return the laptop and I had to chase twice. Upon receiving the laptop back I was told they replaced the battery however the original charger did not work which seemed a coincidence?! They returned the laptop with a second hand replacement charger which was filthy and not the right connection. I contacted Ben to raise the complaint before posting this but no reply after a week and had paid the £180 for the repair and have had to buy a new charger from Amazon myself. I would not recommend or use again.
